My husband and I stayed at Hotel Correra 241 for 2 nights in January 2006. We had planned to be in Naples only for 2 days/ 1 night, but immediately upon seeing the sparklingly bright Correra 241... and Naples... we decided to stay another night and day. We would've stayed longer still, but we hadn't brought enough supplies/ clothing/ etc with us from our vacation base in Rome.
The other reviewer of this hotel (btw, thank you, your review was one of the reasons we picked this hotel) was correct--this is an adorable, cute, sweet, colorful, lovely hotel. The staff was extraordinarily kind and helpful and fluent in English, although our not so great Italian no doubt would've been adequate. The check-in area, lobby, and room where breakfast is served are all decorated in bright reds and oranges with white highlights.
The hotel is in a very old building (maybe 150 years old?, older?), so everything is wonderfully proportioned--high ceilings, tall window casements, etc. Our room (104) had a towering casement window overlooking the street (Correra) and a small balcony where we could stand to enjoy the view. There were both brand new French doors and interior wooden shutters to close out the street sound. King-sized bed with a fantastic firm mattress. I wish our mattress at home was that good.
The ceiling was at least 15 feet high, painted blue with a white border. Blue floor; orange and red bedstands; blue headboard under red, orange, and yellow wall decorations; walls painted 2 (or 3?) different shades of blue; red desk; different-colored shelves in the dresser area. Everything is finished in a gorgeous high gloss. The photos I saw of the hotel, which look quite nice, didn't really convey how bright and friendly it all is in person.
And, like the room wasn't cute enough already, the bathroom was up a flight of stairs inside the room! The stairs were blue (of course) and it was such a gas to have a hotel room on two floors. Up the stairs to the roomy, spotless marble-sinked bathroom, complete with bidet. Nice hand-held shower in the tub. Everything new and working perfectly.
Apparently Correra 241 is a "new" kind of hotel--with spare, bright, colorful, modern furnishings. If you're expecting carpeting or antique furniture, this is not the place to stay. It's not in a swanky neighborhood, but it is in a wonderful, safe, and conveniently located neighborhood, a 5 minute walk to the superb National Archeological Museum (check out their Pompeii exhibits and Egyptian collection), and near scads of affordable and yummy restaurants, not to mention shops. It's also right near a metro stop and many many bus lines. If you're concerned about safety, the hotel itself is very secure--they buzz you in from a locked street-front camera-monitored gate. There's no curfew, you can come and go as you please.
There's an internet station for all the guests, which we used every day. Lastly, I must mention the great breakfast: croissants, toast, jam, yogurt, juices, cereal, etc., etc. More than enough to fill up on before spending the day walking around.
Yes, we loved it and we hope to return.
